I’m surprised these pictures have turned out so bright, because the house feels dark as Hell. I think I need a desk lamp or something to work under, as the light placement in this house (unlike the one we moved from in May) is pretty bollocks for where light sources have been positioned. The kitchen has two ceiling lights and I could barely see anything as I tried to pick my way through the Scions tonight.
I went into the unit with two troops being pretty much finished (bases not included), so I was working to get the two in the back row all done in terms of their metallic sections. They are quite fiddly to paint actually, with their armour filigree and little straps here and there. And I’m painting them in the scheme of the Iotan Dragons, one of GW’s variant platoons for the Scions.
Secondly, I am painting up my Hellhound/Devil Dog. Here I have just applied the ink wash to one side and am currently waiting for it to dry as I type this. I quite liked the idea of having a Fast Attack choice with a flamer or melta cannon, and figured this tank would be a nice piece of hardware to throw into an enemy’s face. I’m sure they can also roll for an increased detonation range after being defeated, which is another reason I like them.
That’s all for this brief update, anyway. Both of these units have been sitting in my pile since the first lockdown, I think. They are well overdue for being finished, and I am determined to get them done by the end of 2022. As for what I’ll be doing when the new Guard minis come out, I don’t know. I don’t much like the new Shock Troops, but there are some minis that do look badass, the Castellan for one.
Take care, thanks for reading, and let me know what your thoughts are on the new Imperial Guard releases coming up if you have seen them. Cheers.
